Note that leaving out "sudo" causes this... a brief dialog pops up (too fast to 
read.)

$ update-manager -d
authenticate 'jaunty.tar.gz' against 'jaunty.tar.gz.gpg' 
Segmentation fault

Then running correctly (sudo update-manager -d) works fine.
