Public bug reported:
I just did a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.04. The install went fine,
rebooted, tried to change display settings with the X randr utility, it
seemed to work and I rebooted. Upon reboot X wouldn't come up. It got as
far as completing the progress bar, and even saw some text after it, but
after that all I saw was some junk red pixels at the top of the screen.
I have two monitors, and an ATI card. I should mention that I have
Ubuntu 8.10 on this same machine and it works fine. I am attaching my
xorg.conf from the 9.04 install as well as the last Xorg.0.log file.
I'd start in runlevel 2, but someone smarter than me thought it was a
good idea to remove the inittab file, so I have no idea how to configure
the system to not try X.
