** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: linux-image

I updated from Intrepid Ibex to Jaunty on sunday, now the system does
not up with the new kernel (2.6.28-11). Intrepid's kernel version
2.6.27-14 works (but not fine because of some new stuff like GEM).

I have a amd64 system installed with the llvm/dm-crypt setup. The new
kernel does not ask for a passphrase to decrypt the volume. There are no
logs written by the kernel because it doesn't get access to any volume
  but /boot.

  UPDATE:
Homebrew kernels do not work, too. The problem must be caused by initramfs
generation and/or udev.
+
+ SECOND UPDATE: WORKAROUND
+ It is possible to work around the probem by adding a kernel parameter to the
/boot/grub/menu.lst.
+
+ > cryptopts=source=/dev/sda1
+
+ So it shouldn't be a too big issue to fix the problem in a proper way.
