Public bug reported:
See forum post @ http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=289918
if I connect to a Samba share, it will appear in my list of Network
Places both in my Places menu on the Gnome Panel and in the Nautilus
listing of mounted media. This provides at least the illusion of mounted
media. However, this media is NOT ACTUALLY MOUNTED. This means that you
can NOT access smb shares inside applications!
Gnome/Nautilus Needs to MOUNT Samba Shares to the File system! AT THE MOMENT IT
DOES NOT MOUNT TO THE FILE SYSTEM!
This seems to have been a bug for a while so I'm gonna log it because I
cant find anything relating to this issue. I am having this issue with
the 9.04 x86 Desktop version of ubuntu, but other versions are having
the same problem
