Hi,
I installed ubuntu 9.04 three days ago and i had the same problem on the same
type of laptop - Samsung R60+ .

Other things works well since today, or i didnt notice nothing wrong
yet. but this damn shutting down/restart process was frustrating.

I checked few fixes, that with acpi, wlan0 and eth0 after stop), i
turned off and turn on few things, i changed for wicd instead of network
manager...

and today i found, that if i disable splash screen for grub (for doing
that, use program from synaptic - startupmanager ), on the first tab of
options in that software, and make one reset... the computer don't
freeze anymore, no horrible black screens with small , ' . ` shapes. it
just turn off, and restart like it should.

so... please mtv...pimp my ride... or at least can somebody look into
that shutdown process and figure out why splash screen brake it ???

thanks.
