Similiar problem exists in Jaunty for Brother HL-2030. But for my printer a simple solution: [code] sudo chmod 700 /usr/lib/cups/backend/hal sudo chmod 700 /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb [/code] was enough. Nevertheless I proposed to modify the distribution to have a valid permission for cups backends!
