i just installed ubuntu 8.10 and i think i have the same problem. hardware drives option give me 2 options, 96 and 173 but none of them worked... i've read something on the forums and tried to reinstall on root: sudo apt-get nvidia-settings; nvidia-config.. and so on, but nothing helped. i reinstalled linux now and still mu resolution cant go more than 640x480... pls help
