Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

*All* panels hang for 60 seconds when opening a sftp mount that is no longer
accessible (vpn disconnect, broken internet connection, firewall changes etc.)
from the "Places" menu.
I see this on Jaunty.

How to reproduce:

1) Connect to some sftp server ( ftp my work too ) with nautilus so you see the
connection listed in the "Places" menu.
2) Disconnect some network cable connecting you to the sftp server.
3) Select it from the "Places" menu.

=> All panels hang for 60 seconds making the computer mostly useless for
that time.
