Public bug reported:

I am a beginner when it comes to Ubuntu, so I just click on every update
that the update manager presents, not knowing that it might disable one
or two of my hardware. In this case the sound seems to be the setting
affected by the update. I know it's because of the update because when I
revert to the previous version (just when the computer illy s starting-
up I hit ESC and select the original installed version from the list)
the sounds works fine.

This proves to be irksome sometimes because I have to be constantly
watchfull of hitting the ESC key before starting-up. So I would like to
ask for your help in this matter. Either I get help from the community
in setting up the 'originally installed version' as the one being
booted-up, or I get instructions on how to fix my sounds with the
current settings of the update. I really would like to fix my sounds
with the current updated version as the base, so your help in this would
be gladly appreciated.

God Bless to all wjo would be helping, and Blessings to you always.

Computer Information:

1. Ubuntu 8.04 - the Hardy Heron - released in April 2008.
2. There is a PNG pisture attached to this report and it shows the error window
that is usually seen after I click on the sound tray icon.
