Public bug reported:

This particular barcode scanner presents itself a keyboard device when reading
a barcode so it is easily useable in various applications.
I suspect that this problem occurs with other readers as well, unable to verify
at the moment.

Example of a reading:

What it should read: 3512289010160
What it actually reads (same barcode): 3512é89010160, 35122_90&0160,
35122890101-0 and so on

About 5 out of 10 tries result in faulty input.

The device is working properly, as it reads without any problems under
Ubuntu Warty, plain console and MS Windows. Under Debian Sarge it works
better ("only" 2 out of 10 tries give faulty input), but still not
perfect.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-keyboard (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
