Found a work around: sudo aptitude update -o Acquire::http::No-Cache=True
Explanation: This has been an issue for several users in the past, by the looks of things it only _sometimes_ affects people when they are behind some kind of proxy or are subject to some sort of ISP level caching. I'm behind my University's proxy right now, that's what caused my problems.
