Has anyone solved this? I have the same issue with my compaq presario cq40-340tu. I've tried editting the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base but that didnt work.
At first, I can hear sounds through the headset (but not through the built in speakers)... and now, after making some changes, i can't hear sounds even when using my headset. Please help.
