  IDE DVD Burner 
  
  these are the steps I execute:
  
  -turn on the PC
  -login
  
  -Wait for a moment and then  insert a CD (blank, with info etc...)
   or 
  -Use the PC for a while (1 hour or 2) an then insert a CD
  
- The result is a Desktop without response , I can't do right click and the 
desktop icons dissapear. The Panels still work i can navigate trough the 
windows i opened .

  The PLACES menu shows  an item with the icon of a CD and  the name of that CD 
so I click the item , Nautilus tries to open  a window but after a while 
nautilus just quit.
- To eject the CD I use the EJECT command.
- I restart my user session to have my Desktop working  again.
