I didn't read all 200+ comments, but I think I have a similar problem:
The "worst" application is OpenOffice (all menues&windows, parts of the sheet)
(partly UNUSABLE)
And the Qt Applications:
Skype (partly everything)
VLC (menu & Settings, playlist)
Virtualbox (Buttons, menus)
sometimes nautilus (Detail view)
My System:
HP HDX-18 Premuim Laptop, Nvidia GeForge 9600M GT
OS: Jaunty 64-bit, nvidia 180.44 prop. driver provided by Ubuntu (COMPIZ ON)
I recognized some minor Problems in the last month with intrepid too.
