** Description changed:

Tried both the native 9.04 drivers, then removed them as shown here:
  https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/285603
and then installed the latest ATI/AMD driver from here:

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/Pages/radeon_linux.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.2&lang=English

- I first got garbled video but after installing teh above driver, I gave up
last night with no panels visible. Also apparently the screen size is larger
than the monitor - BUT - rearranging the icons keeps them to the screen size
displayed.

I can get to the terminal, so of there are commands I can use to get
additional data please let me know. This is on a backup machine that worked
100% in the prior (Jaunty) release!

- It is a Radeon HD2600XT AGP card, on a HDTV using HDMI, at 1360 x 768
- with 512Meg VRAM, in a 2.8 GHz/2Gb/Celeron PC.

I have been posting and reading up on this, and while it may be similar to
bugs
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/368187,
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/365059
There is not enough info there to confirm this is the same issue.

- It may also be an "X" or XORG issue, and if this it appears as so, let me
know and I can get the data as asked here:

  (Question: how can I use "$ ubuntu-bug -p xserver-xorg-video-ati" if I
am reporting this bug from another, correctly operating computer? - but
I figured out a way to submit this anyway, but you may want to note this
  possibility.)
