Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kvm
Using Ubuntu Jaunty 64 bit desktop, kvm (1:84+dfsg-0ubuntu11) via virt-
manager (0.6.1-1ubuntu4)
I have windows XP and windows Vista installed on separate partitions on
the first hard disk (scsi). When I attempt to have kvm boot from these
partitions it attempts to boot but, while appearing to use 50% processor
capacity, gets no further. I have left it for 20 minutes to see if
anything would eventually happen but nothing does. I assume it is using
the full capacity of the one core that I have assigned it resulting in
the 50% processor capacity usage.
Further background:
I have kvm working fine for a windows XP image file.
I can successfully boot windows from these partitions "non-virtually" using
grub.
When I attempted to boot from these partitions via kvm on the command line it
gave "unable to read disk" errors.
** Affects: kvm (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
