Public bug reported:
This kerel continously reports unclean shut down, and keeps checking
drives for errors and comes up with dos type screens. asks me to do
manual check. so i run fsck and then somehow it starts up, and this
routine goes on each time i manage to start and shut down even though
the shutdown is clean.
BTW, i reported that i could not
upgrade from 8.10
fresh loaded 9.04
install failed
reformatted
reinstall, again failed
fresh install 8.10 prefect !
THEN again upgrade to 9.04
now it works
then the kernel 2.6.28.11 has the above problems
if i boot in 2.6.27.7 , it still reports problems in unclean shutdown,
sometimes, but works almost perfect
however, since 8.10 , the compiz functions have failed to work
even now, compiz fails to work in both the kernels.
most of the time the machine goes blank (still working) while using mplayer,
Gstreamer movie player etc
i strongly suspect the video Xorg- ati driver etc are real trouble as machine
is very unstable
PS. in my DELL notebook D430 =issue is that compiz does not work since
8.10 and now on 9.04
