Now we have re-installed from scratch. First login worked fine, except that the system required a long minute to clear the light blue screen and achieve the desktop. Seems way too long. This time taking no updates, we simply logged out and back in. Menu bars appear, but desktop is blue no icons. 2nd log out/in, same.
