In Jaunty I was still having this issue. I've done the incremental Ubuntu upgrades since, I can't remember when, possibly Feisty.
I followed the suggestion of deleting my user .openoffice.org2 directory, but that didn't fix it. I then tried deleting my user .openoffice.org directory, and that fixed the issue.
