I have the same effect: randomly freezes. Today I had to do a reboot by switch
of power (Press and hold power button).
I was running 9.04 32-bit alpha-4 to rc without problems.
After I was switching to 9.04 64-bit and it run ok. since two days I have this
regurarly system freezes. I don't have a sure way to reproduce it, as it may
happen during any situation (working by terminal, ...)
