I tested this bug sequence today and I confirm what the reporter is saying.
I took 9.04 Final and applied all avail updates thru 5.1.09 and inserted DVD movie and got the exact results. Did not test 8.10. The sequence in screen shots is attached. The procedure says is it looking for a pluging named 'DVD source', I apt-cache searched all DVD and source patterns and nothing matches with name 'plugin' etc. nothing matched or came close.
