Hi all,
not sure I experience exactly the same bug, but I do think there are
issues with radeon driver ...
I recently upgraded 8.10 to 9.04 on a Dell D610 ("lspci | grep VGA" says
"01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M22 [Mobility Radeon
X300]").
All was okay but googleearth (version 4.x and 5) freezes the screen about 15-20
seconds after they are run.
The screen sometimes goes blank or show various moving gradients ; the mouse
and keyboard remains responsive and the system is still functioning behind the
frozen screen : I can soft reboot by blindly hitting the right keystrokes.
I turned DRI off (option "NoDRI" on the device section) ; googleearth
warned me about poor performances due to software-emulated OpenGL but it
now *does* work.
But it is actually very very slow ...
