I also have this issue with my NC10. I'm running UNR 9.04 Final.

It only occurs when I am running on the battery, never when on AC. No
matter what settings I have for screensaver, idle dimming, or power
management, the screen dims when idle and does not restore brightness
when I move the mouse or use the keyboard. The odd thing is that I have
"Dim Display When Idle" UNCHECKED for both AC power and battery power,
and it still dims after about 15 minutes of idle time.

I have the latest BIOS (07CA) and the brightness control in the BIOS set
to manual (or "user controlled" or whatever the opposite of auto is).
This issue also occured when I was using BIOS 04CA.

The dimming is annoying because it occurs when I am running full screen
applications like ZSNES, and because the brightness keys operate very
slowly (I should probably file that as a separate bug).

Also, I've noticed that if the bugged dimming occurs, when I plug in the
AC power the brightness does not increase, as it does if the dimming
hasn't occured.
