Also, do you current use the compiz window manager? i.e. what is your
setting in "System::Preferences::Appearance::Visual Effects" ?

Please install the following debug symbol packages:
sudo apt-get -y install libc6-dbg xserver-xorg-core-dbg libgl1-mesa-dri-dbg
libgl1-mesa-glx-dbg xserver-xorg-video-radeon-dbg xserver-xorg-video-ati-dbg
libx11-6-dbg libice6-dbg

If you can capture the stacktrace again with these debug symbols we
might be able to get function names for the remaining stackframes as
well.

Or, even better.... do you have access to 2 computers? If so, it would
be useful if you connected to the affected system with ssh and then
attached GDB to the X process. Once the bug happens again, please run
"bt full" in gdb and paste the output here. To make that more convenient
you can first activate logging in gdb using "set logging file
xorg_backtrace.txt" followed by "set logging on"; all subsequent gdb out
is then recorded to this file.

Mored detailed information about obtaining good backtraces is available here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing

Is there anything else what makes your installation unusual? Is this a
plain desktop ubuntu install or is this machine connect to a big office
/ school network with LDAP authentication or such?
