** Description changed:

I upgraded my laptop from 8.10 (Intrepid) to 9.04 (Jaunty) and KDE
(mostly) became corrupted. I had no issues with the driver in 8.10 from
  the restricted drivers package.

I tried to get more recent drivers from NVidia and the corruption
persisted. I also tried the NVidia beta drivers (185.18.04) to no
  avail.

Gnome also has some artifacting when I go into it, but it's not as bad
  as KDE.

I'm attaching a snapshot of what my desktop looks like.

  Please advise.
