Run 'dpkg -l grub-pc'.

Other possibilities are:

- you've installed lilo (shown with: dpkg -l lilo)
- you've uninstalled the bootloader completely, but still have a working
  boot block on your disk
- you've installed some other grub package?  (shown with: dpkg -l 'grub*')
