Upstream will not accept the change because msn-pecan is a plugin, a proper fix from pidgin will be http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/5667 . The patch is based on http://code.google.com/p/msn-pecan/issues/detail?id=5 comments. The patch add all MSN smileys also if you are using WLM protocol (WLM is the protocol name used in msn-pecan).
