Any way I can get specific instructions on how to carry through that
process here? I'm opening a thread now and I can post the link to that
if you would prefer. Thanks for your help.

Subject: [Bug 372013] Re: Ubuntu fails to launch server x

Please open a thread on ubuntuforums.org for help with backup and re-
installing. In general it should be possible to boot off of the live CD
and then mount the partition on the disk and copy the files to a network
share or burn the files to a CD/DVD if you have such a recorder in the
machine.

Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

After boot info and pswd is given it reads:

Cannot create a temp file, the connection has been refused, ERRNO111.
Unable to connect to x server

No such process ERRNO 3. Server error

Error in locking authority file/home/aidake/.Xauthority. Fatal server
error. Could not create lock file in /tmp/.tXO-lock

Than it takes me back to the command prompt.

This is release 9.04

This problem came up once before when I had to manually shut it down but
I booted from the original disk and restarted and that fixed it. Wasn't
the case this time.
