This does not seem to be a problem any longer, as of the current state
of Feisty.

Unlike other releases, on Feisty the snd_seq module seems to be loaded by 
default.  However, I made sure to remove this module (thus removing the 
/dev/snd/seq device that zynaddsubfx looks for) and try to launch zynaddsubfx.  
This seemed to work okay; I can even see that it tried to access /dev/snd/seq 
(but did not freeze up as it used to):
  Using OSS instead.
  ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such 
file or directory
