Since installing 9.04 on my Dell Optiplex 360, it did not complete
shutdowns or restarts from the Kde session logout.
Recently I updated the xorg.conf with the lines
Driver "intel"
Option "AccelMethod" "UXA"
for my onboard intel video. It has fixed issues of sluggishness, but now
it fails to complete session logout. It now goes to a black screen and
does not respond to keyboard or mouse, requiring a power off reboot.
