Thanks for the attention, but at this point there is not much I can do as I wiped the installation and reinstalled Intrepid.
I do believe you are on the right track, as I subsquently successfully installed Jaunty to the tablet from a CD on an external USB cdrom drive. Initially I was unable to get Jaunty to proceed to the install from the CD after the initial action selection screen. The system simply hung. Not until I set "acpid off" via the F6 key on the selection scren was I able to get the installation to continue, and thereafter all went well. Since I now have Jaunty installed on the tablet (via CD), and running happily, and am not able to run any tests on the installation that I filed the bug against, as it no longer exists, can I request that you mark this bug as resolved.
