Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: debian-installer

This bug is about the graphical version of the installer. The text-mode server
installation is in my opinion much and much better than the one from the live
cd.
I have found 2 bugs in this installer, which I will report seperately. Here is
the first one.
I've partioned my partition "by hand". It is a test server, so I've choosen a
2gb swap partition and the rest just for the XFS root. Not wise for security,
but handy for testing.
In the next step, I get an error, that tells me I cannot use XFS as a root
filesystem. This is bullshit, as I've just installed a webserver that does just
this. But, ok, I go back, want to reformat. This is not an option in the GUI
(like it is in the text-based installer). So, I delete the partition, and
create a new one of the same size, but using ext2 (fastest filesystem around
according to benchmarks, and it is just a testserver...). According to the GUI
this all goes OK. I click "forward", agree with the mount options, "click
forward", and again get the "XFS on root is not possible" error. So, I click
back, and see the partition is still XFS. After recreating it initially did
show ext2. I could reproduce this.
My collegeau suggested I'd restart the installer, so I do this, and at the step
of partitioning all filesystems list "unknown".
The partitioning screen is powered by gparted I think, so some of the bugs may
be caused by gparted...
