Note that "debian-installer" is the source package for the text-based
installer. The graphical installer is "ubiquity".
What version of Ubuntu are you installing?
XFS on the filesystem containing /boot is intentionally disallowed
because there's a nasty race condition when installing GRUB that
manifests in that configuration. You might not have seen it, but it does
happen a lot. I recommend creating a small ext2 or ext3 /boot partition.
Please attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman from the live session
to this bug after reproducing it.
