differently--My CD/DVD is inoperable intermittently until I restart my

UPDATE: The problem described below fixed itself. I have no idea how,
but it has disappeared and a DVD is burning as I type.
Have a Toshiba M65 running Jaunty Jantelope 9.04 and the CD/DVD+rw drive
does not appear at all. Here is what I am doing and what is happening.
1. I insert a blank DVD and start CD/DVD CREATOR
2. I drag in files to burn, sometimes an iso file
3 CD/DVD CREATOR tells me "Please insert a recordable CD or DVD There is
no recordable disc inserted"
If I insert a CD or DVD with stuff on it, like files I want to add to my
computer, it does not appear.
I ran some terminal commands I saw in other forums and have pasted below
in hopes they are helpful. I am a total newbie on Linux and know very
very little but can do stuff with terminal.
