Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: smartdimmer

After upgrading from Ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04 I started getting full
brightness apparently at random.

After I uninstalled the smartdimmer package the problem went away and I
can still control the brightness using hotkeys. The only difference is
that I don't see a notification in the upper-right corner.

I am using an Acer Emachines 510 laptop.
