If at all, this is a bug in tp-smapi, not hdapsd.
In the subject you write it happens on a T500, but you link to a T61 ThinkWiki
page.
May I assume that adding invert=1 fixes the issue on a T500?
If so, I'll forward that upstream, so it'll be fixed in the next
release.
