Got the same deadlock yesterday - had 8.10 and 9.04 alternate cds, both failed the same way. NEC DVD-RW, Gigabyte motherboard for Core2Duo (can't remember model). Worse yet, installer has already cleaned existing Mandriva partition and destroyed Grub data, thus making Windows unavailable (yes, I had dual-boot).
But I managed to accidentally find a solution. I did two things: 1. Disabled, rebooted and re-enabled EIDE for DVD drive's IDE channel (using BIOS setup). 2. Booted from Mandriva Live CD, trying to find a solution in the internet. But, after rebooting once more, Ubuntu CD mysteriously worked on its own! I believe it's somehow connected to BIOS IDE detection. -- Alternate install fails requesting same disc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/360460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
