I am still met this problem in ubuntu 9.04 with my DELL 6400 laptop.

1. What version ubuntu release you tested.
9.04, 64 bit.

2. The file created by this command on a terminal : lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.txt
please see the attached file.

3. The output of this command on a terminal : cat /etc/usplash.conf
$ cat /etc/usplash.conf
# Usplash configuration file
# These parameters will only apply after running update-initramfs.

xres=1440
yres=900

4. The output of this command on a terminal : uname -a
$ uname -a
Linux he-laptop 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:58:03 UTC 2009 
x86_64 GNU/Linux
