Still a problem as at 17/1/2006. Nforce2 board 9250 Matrox PCI Athlon Mobile (Clocked!!)
Black screen and sound but no Install screen after the Ubuntu loading sequence. Many CD's both BT and direct downloads of 6.10. I appreciate what the developers are doing regards getting the screen config out of the way early but for my system on a three screen PCI/AGP LCD/CRT combo I wouldn't expect even Windows to cope. My answer would have been to load on the PCI card with the AGP card (Radeon 9250) removed from the system and then make xorg.conf adjustments after. I might do that later but if it takes 3 months to repair what seems to be a glaring issue on install, I am not sure I would commit to this distro. No offence meant but this, as an end user, is a decision process ocurring possibly more than once.
