In syslog I get messages like this: May 13 00:00:03 lothlorien gdm[10496]: WARNING: Couldn't authenticate user May 13 00:00:34 lothlorien last message repeated 10 times
And lines like this in auth.log: May 13 00:01:14 lothlorien gdm[10496]: pam_unix(gdm:auth): check pass; user unknown May 13 00:01:14 lothlorien gdm[10496]: pam_unix(gdm:auth): authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=:0 ruser= rhost= I think it's a pretty safe assumption that this issue is with GDM. I've managed a really nasty workaround, because I hate logging out, I disabled aplay until this gets resolved: $ sudo chmod -x /usr/bin/aplay ** Package changed: ubuntu => gdm (Ubuntu) -- Login attention sound on continuous repeat after user switch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/373961 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
