Right! I may have some sort of solution. I recently lost my old drawer when I accidentally removed instead of moved it. I then created a new one with almost the same elements, only I added a "Force quit misbehaving applications"-applet as well and now it works like never before.
The items on the panel sometimes rearranged themselves after reboot before but that seems to have stopped as well.
