Public bug reported:
SYMPTOM:
With my computer the system freezes when there is network traffic via
the wlan0 interface. The symptom does not correlate with the amount of
data sent or received via wireless lan. Sometimes the system will be
stable for up to 48 hours, then again it will freeze within minutes
after booting. When the system is frozen, it will not react any more.
The mouse pointer will not move, the clock stops working. I cannot ping
the system, or connect to it via ssh. The emergency key combination
ALT+SysReq+R-E-I-S-U-B does not reboot the system.
I did not experience a freeze when I deactivate the wireless adapter via
the radio button and connect to the internet via an ethernet cable.
I know of users who face the same symptom, but not related to wireless
network activity. I will forward this bug report to these users so that
they can add their log files and bug description.
I did not experience any problems when running Windows Vista. I ran
memory tests to rule out a faulty memory chip.
For tracking down the problem, I tried and installed Ubuntu 8.10 i386.
After applying all updates, the system just froze in the same way than
Jaunty is doing.
I am happy to run every test you point me to. I have an external
wireless adapter (Linksys USB) on order to further test the setup and
deliver more information.
