for those brave souls who venture into dist-upgrade in a Alpha, the following
helped restore my system so that no
broken packages were found...

those KDE packages "can't be installed, trying to overwrite foo also in package
bar" are fixable by running: dpkg --remove --force-depends bar, then apt-get -f
install
it will work as long as you use dpkg and not apt-get, and give the
--force-depends flag
when you're done removing the packages it wants, run apt-get -f install
i finally got rid of broken packages and now have this 0 upgraded, 0 newly
installed, 0 to remove and 5 not upgraded

the maintainers ought to add the conflicting packages to debian/control
