CPU usage happens all the time, not just when hiding/unhiding... Just disabling kicker autohiding makes kicker to not waste CPU.
That's why I reported it, of course there's no problem with the appearing and desappearing of kicker when on mouse over. You can replicate this behaviour just with adduser and the default kubuntu desktop skel.
