In addition to synaptic, I also saw this problem in nautilus. If I
opened nautilus by clicking on one of the folders displayed by netbook-
launcher, I would see the empty space underneath the window. Maximizing
with the title-bar button was not enough to cover up the empty space.
Only clicking on the title bar and selecting maximize caused the window
to fill up all available space. At least, this is my recollection. Hope
this helps with the test case.
