Well, after further inspection of the syslog files, I wouldn't say, that
my bug is a duplicate of bug #260001.
In my case, grub-install screws up here:

Apr 29 04:55:16 ubuntu grub-installer:

While the only reference to grub-installer that I can find in the syslog of bug
#260001 is this single statement:
Aug 21 08:35:01 ubuntu grub-installer: info: architecture: i386/generic
So, I can't help it, but to me that doesn't look like the same thing.
