In the comment above I should mention that FireFox doesn't start after putting in the line
firefox -g 2>&1 | tee ~/Desktop/gdb-firefox.log I just get back to the (gdb) prompt If I try the command in sudo mode sudo firefox -g 2>&1 | tee ~/Desktop/gdb-firefox.log I get a little reprimand You should really not run firefox through sudo WITHOUT the -H Anyway, I'll do as if you did use the -H option.
