Aaron, there is a chance you were bitten by a dapper-to-edgy upgrade bug that corrupted your swap partition and thus disabled hibernation.
Would it be possible for you to revert to the Edgy kernel, ensure you have a valid swap partition (at least as large as your machine's physical memory), and try hibernation again? If the hibernation fails, please reboot and attach to this report the file /var/log/kern.log.0 If you cannot revert, or if the hibernation fails, the output of the following commands could also be useful: uname -a sudo lspci -vv sudo lspci -vvn sudo dmidecode Thanks for your work on this bug report! -- eMachines m6805: vbetool fails to restore from hibernate in edgy (ok in dapper) https://launchpad.net/bugs/75177 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
