Ok, I reinstalled 8.0.4 32bit platform and all updates and everything works great now. When I went to Hulu.com and tried to watch a video, it asked to search for additional plugins needed. I did that and it started working fine. All flash sites work great as well as anything needing media player which open in Totem. My sound even seems much richer. Video is much improved as well - no jitters and runs full screen just like TV. I am going to dual boot version 9.0.4 in the 32 bit platform and see how that works for now too. Will advise. For now, I will stick with 8.10 since that runs everything well. Still very pleased as I say no to Windows!
