I am unable to reproduce this, following your steps.
so you are clicking:
Buddies>Add Buddy>Buddy username>Add Buddy to group>Add
and filling in the boxes for username and group.
or
Accounts>Manage Account>Add a new user account
The screen shot looks different then how you described the reproduction, would
you please clarify the steps? This will help greatly with this bug report,
